Professor Jerome F. Hajjar

Title: New Strategies for a Sustainable and Resilient Structural Systems

Jerome F. Hajjar is the CDM Smith Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Northeastern University. His research and teaching interests include analysis, experimental testing, and design of steel and composite structures, regional modeling of infrastructure systems, and earthquake engineering, and he has published over 200 papers and books on these topics. Hajjar serves on the AISC Committee on Specifications, chairs AISC Task Committee 5 on Composite Construction, and he is on the ASCE/SEI Board of Governors. He is a Fellow of ASCE and SEI and has received over thirty awards for his research, teaching, and service.

 Professor Chia-Ming Uang

Title: Research on Seismic Design of Deep Wide-flange Steel Columns in the U.S.

Chia-Ming Uang is a Professor in the Department of Structural Engineering at the University of California, San Diego. Professor Uang’s research area is in seismic design, rehabilitation, and testing of large-scale steel structures. He received the T.R. Higgins Lectureship Award in 2015 and a Special Achievement Award in 2007 from American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC). He is also a member of the AISC Committee of Specifications and Seismic Committee. Professor Uang received three research awards from American Society of Civil Engineers: Raymond C. Reese Research Prize in 2001 as well as Moisseiff Award in 2004 and 2014.

 Professor Yaojun Ge

Title: Dynamic and Aerodynamic Challenges of Long Span Steel Bridges

Yaojun Ge has been working at Tongji University, specializing in bridge structural analysis, wind engineering, and bridge aerodynamics for 36 years. He has contributed to over 10 key fundamental research projects and also served consultants to over 30 major bridge development projects. He has published 7 books and more than 200 technical papers, and has made over 20 keynote presentations in international conferences. He has received three National Science Technology Awards, as well as T. Y. Lin Medal 2016 and ICARO Award 2018 from the international community. He has served as President of Bridge and Structural Engineering Institute of CCES. He was elected as President of IABSE in 2018.
